The antenna in the clock radio is also (typically) contained inside the radio, which is inside your dwelling of choice, which could be further contained inside other dwellings. Each barrier (obstacle) will attenuate the radio signals a fraction. Since the car antenna is out in the open, it will receive a stronger signal than inside the dwelling. (Ever notice how the radio starts crackling or a station is lost when you drive through a tunnel, or are going through the mountains? Same thing, different barrier.</description>
